Grillz Impression Guide | How to Take a Dental Mould

Taking a dental impression for custom grillz

Global Grillz uses the impression of your teeth to prepare a custom-fitting design. Your mould must capture the intended teeth clearly, including the gumline above them.

What a good impression shows

All requested teeth should be visible without major distortion, missing edges or drag marks. The flat gumline area above the teeth should also be captured. Compare your mould with our approved example before posting it. If it does not look similar, remake it.

Using the Global Grillz mould kit

Our kit includes three putty pairs. If you are moulding only the upper or only the lower teeth, use the available attempts to get the best possible impression. For the kit's standard putty: wash and dry your hands, brush your teeth, mix base and catalyst for approximately 30 seconds until uniform, load the tray promptly within the specified working time, and hold the tray steady for approximately three minutes, subject to the supplied product instructions.

Using your own kit

Contact us before using a kit purchased locally. Not all impression compounds and trays are suitable for making custom grillz. Follow your kit manufacturer's working and setting times, which may differ from ours. Make sure the material is intended for dental impressions and that the tray comfortably fits the relevant teeth.

Sending your mould

Allow the impression to set fully, retain the tray unless advised otherwise, protect it from damage in transit and include your order reference. Ask us for current return address and country-specific posting instructions. Do not send an impression until your order arrangements are confirmed.

Important: This is a general guide, not dental advice. If you have dental concerns, loose teeth, braces or other oral appliances, seek guidance from a dental professional. We may reject inadequate impressions and request a replacement. If you need help, DM Global Grillz on Instagram.
